On December 15th, 2009, members of the American Patriot Heroes' Fund visited The Veterans Place in Yapank, NY. The Veterans place is owned by Suffolk County United Veterans, and utilizes a 3 step program to help Homeless Veterans transition from “homeless to homeownership”.
Justin Restivo, Vincent Trimarco and Gene Nally met with Director John Lynch and presented him with a check to help assist with the restocking of the food pantry for the holidays. AMPAT was able to interact with some of the Veterans and get to here their stories. “Being a Veteran myself it was nice to see these guys are being taken care of and that there is a “rehab” program out there like this when these guys fall on hard times. The best part about it, this is not some “pitty-party” for guys who need help, these are tough guys, they served their Country and know what its like to put out 150% and that’s what the Veterans Place is asking them for in return, they are required to help out around the facility, with the other Veterans and complete their 3 step program. The morale is high and these guys are all helping each other, just as if they were back in the Military, says Justin Restivo (USMC, Director of Client Relations, AMPAT)”.
Both Channel 12 & 18 news reporters were on the scene and spent the day interviewing some of the Veterans who are apart of the organization. AMPAT and Mr. Lynch discussed further opportunities for continued support and are looking forward to a summer BBQ that could be in the works.

Last week American Patriot Heroes' Fund kicked off their new Help a Hero project. We supported a fellow Vietnam Veteran who was missing heat in his house. With the economy being the way it is and this particular Veteran being 100% disabled he just does not have the cash too keep refilling his oil. With a cold winter already in place these living conditions are NO means for anyone, especially someone who laid their life on the line for this Country, states David Zere, Executive Director, AMPAT.
AMPAT also received notice from the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency that a local Gulf War veteran had hit s rough patch and was in need of some assistance ranging from financial issues to home repairs. AMPAT quickly touched base with the Veteran and come thru with financial assistance before the Holidays and is currently working on some other projects for the Veteran. “Giving back to the Veterans within our community is part of the forefront of who we are, these are guys who put it all on the line for their Country and now it is up to us to aid or assist them in any way possible if the fall on tough times, quotes Douglas Perincheif, USMC, Assist Executive Director, AMPAT)”.

On December 14th, 2009, the American Patriot Heroes' Fund donated $1,000.00 to the local Northport VA in an effort to help them reach their goal for 2009.
We have earmarked $500.00 towards the returning Soldiers' fund and $500.00 towards the 2009 wish list. The Northport VA serves local Veterans in the Long Island, NY area and is a key facility for many Veterans who utilize their services. The staff and programs are among the best in the Country and every Veteran is treated with respect and, a warm smile.
"We look forward to working more with the Northport VA this year and plan to continue to support their mission," stated Justin Restivo, Director of Client Relations, Atlantic. We at American Patriot Heroes fund encourage ALL Veterans to seek out assistance at their local VA and research what programs are available to each individual Veterans preference. We would like to thank the staff at the Northport VA for all of their hard work and efforts towards our Nations great Heroes!
